Club Cafe returned to the South Side stage Thursday, after a week of preview shows and artist mixers, reopening under new ownership following its January shutdown.

Keystone Artist Connect bought the venue from Michael Sanders’ Opus One Productions. The terms were not disclosed, and the sale was finalized in April, according to the owners.

Opening weekend leaned on hometown star power: The Commonheart and singer-songwriter Paul Luc topped a lineup that brought more than 20 acts to East Carson Street, welcoming the listening room back to life.

Co-owner Maddy Lafferty said the team intends to “put the cafe back in Club Cafe.” In addition to evening concerts, the venue plans to operate a daily coffee service from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., positioning the space as a neighborhood hangout before doors open for shows.

Inside, the room has been refreshed while keeping its intimate feel. The greenroom was revamped to act as a home away from home for touring bands.

Those interested in seeing the redone space or listening in on the next big thing can check out Club Cafe’s schedule on their website.
