Anthrocon has canceled its 2026 Fursuit Parade and Block Party, scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, July 4, citing extreme heat and severe weather forecast for Pittsburgh this weekend, the convention announced Friday.
Convention leadership made the decision after consulting with emergency services personnel and other entities, according to a statement from Anthrocon, Inc. The organization said the cancellation was made out of consideration for the health and safety of fursuiters, attendees and Pittsburgh residents.
Anthrocon said it plans to announce alternative indoor activities in place of the parade and that other convention events will continue through the holiday weekend.
