Pittsburgh Regional Transit is inviting riders and residents to weigh in on planned renovations at two of the region’s busiest transit stations, with a pair of virtual public meetings scheduled later this month.

PRT will host separate meetings for the Station Square and Dormont Junction station improvement projects, both of which fall under the agency’s broader Station Improvement Program — an initiative aimed at modernizing key transit hubs, improving the rider experience, and supporting equitable transit-oriented development across the region.

Station Square

The Station Square meeting is scheduled for Thursday, May 21 at 6 p.m. The station, which currently serves a light rail stop and four bus routes, is slated for a significant overhaul. PRT’s plans call for transforming the site into a more modern, unified transit center that better integrates rail and bus services while improving accessibility for all riders.

Dormont Junction

One week later, on Thursday, May 28 at 7 p.m., PRT will turn its attention to Dormont Junction. That project is focused on pedestrian access and circulation improvements, along with upgrades to platforms, canopies, lighting visibility, and overall station accessibility.

PRT noted that while the Borough of Dormont is separately exploring potential transit-oriented development on the Dormont Park and Ride site, that effort will not be addressed during the May 28 meeting. The two initiatives are distinct, the agency said.
