A South Side altercation ended with one man stabbed in the face and two individuals transported to area hospitals early Saturday morning, according to Pittsburgh police.
Officers were flagged down just after 3 a.m. in the 1800 block of East Carson Street in response to a reported fight. Upon arrival, police encountered two men involved in a physical altercation.
One of the men told officers he had stabbed the other in the right side of his cheek, claiming the act was committed in self-defense. Officers separated the two individuals at the scene.
The man sustaining the facial laceration was transported to a local hospital, where he was listed in stable condition. The second individual, the one who reported acting in self-defense, was also taken to a hospital to be evaluated for an injury to his hand.
No arrests have been reported at this time.
The incident is under active investigation by Pittsburgh police. No further information has been released.
