A three-alarm fire burned the vacant former Grandview United Presbyterian Church on Mount Washington Tuesday evening, and one firefighter was taken by medics for evaluation, Pittsburgh Public Safety said.

The fire started shortly after 6 p.m. at the church, near Grandview Avenue and Kearsarge Street. It was declared under control just before 9 p.m., though firefighters continued working on hotspots, the department said in posts on social media.

Grandview Avenue was closed between Shiloh and Bertha streets during the response.

No other injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
