Pittsburgh’s CitiParks department began requiring adult supervision for children and teenagers at Ormsby Pool starting today, June 28th, citing ongoing rule violations at the South Side facility.

Under the new policy, pool visitors 15 and younger must be accompanied by an adult at least 21 years old. Chaperones must present identification and will be responsible for ensuring minors follow pool regulations.

The measure follows what CitiParks described as “repeated rule violations” at the facility, though officials did not specify the infractions. The department implemented a similar chaperone requirement at Highland Park Pool last summer.

CitiParks officials said they will monitor pool activity throughout the summer to maintain safety standards at the city’s recreational facilities.
