A 15-piece Afro-Caribbean ensemble will perform Sunday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Hazelwood Green Plaza as part of the monthly Weather Permitting Concert Series. El Laberinto del Coco, led by percussionist and composer Héctor “Coco” Barez, combines bomba percussion with Latin jazz, funk, and folkloric elements. The group recently completed a worldwide tour and was featured on NPR’s Tiny Desk series.
The free concert begins at Hazelwood Green Plaza, 4501 Lytle St., with more than a dozen vendors, food trucks, and children’s activities, including face painting. Organizers encourage attendees to bring blankets and chairs.
The monthly outdoor music series features live performances, vendors, and family activities at the Hazelwood Green venue. Free street and lot parking is available.
Registration is not required but recommended for weather updates and event news. Information is available at Hazelwood Local’s website or @hazelwoodlocal on Instagram.
The event is weather dependent, and organizers advise checking social media for any weather-related changes.
