With more than half of requested mail-in ballots still unreturned, Allegheny County election officials are urging voters to use ballot return sites ahead of next week’s primary, according to a press announcement issued Thursday.
As of May 14, 111,528 voters had requested mail-in or absentee ballots. Just 53,714 had been returned.
To help ensure timely submission, the Allegheny County Elections Division will operate staffed ballot return sites starting Friday, May 16, through Monday, May 19. Sites will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday and Monday, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
Ballots can be returned at the following locations:
- Allegheny County Emergency Services Building
- Avalon Public Library
- Boyce Park Four Seasons Lodge
- Carnegie Library Squirrel Hill
- CCAC Homewood
- County Office Building (Ross Street entrance)
- Dormont Pool
- Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank
- North Park Ice Rink
- South Park Ice Rink
On Election Day, Tuesday, May 20, the County Office Building drop-off site will remain open until 8 p.m.
Voters may only return their own ballots unless they have completed authorization forms to return a ballot on behalf of someone physically unable to do so. Those in need of voting or ballot-return assistance are encouraged to call the Elections Division at 412-350-4500.
