A late Saturday night shooting on Pittsburgh’s South Side has left a convenience store employee wounded and the community on alert. The incident occurred just before 10:30 p.m. near the Jag Dev convenience store at the 2100 block of East Carson Street.

Police found the injured employee inside the store, shot in the chest while taking out trash at the intersection of 22nd and E. Carson Street. Initially critical, his condition has stabilized, but he suffers from lung damage.

The store’s owner, who is the victim’s uncle, reports this is the second violent incident at Jag Dev since its August 2023 opening. A previous armed robbery occurred, though with no injuries. The owner also noted the shooter, a former customer, had no prior altercation with his nephew.

Pittsburgh’s Violent Crime Unit is investigating, with detectives analyzing surveillance footage. As the suspect remains at large, police urge anyone with information to come forward.
